Beautiful Butterflies

I'm a mixed media 'dabbler'.  I love the mixed media look and, at times, it's really fun to get a little inky :)  The card I'm sharing today was simple to create and pretty quick to pull together, too!  Below is a brief tutorial...

 1)  I took watercolor paper and embossed it with Spellbinders 3D Beautiful Butterflies Embossing Folder.

2)  I then blended a few Distress Oxide inks (Faded Jeans, Twisted Citron, Scattered Straw & Gathered Twigs) over different embossed images and spritzed with water using Tim Holtz Distress Sprayer to mix up the colors a bit.  Then, dried the piece with a heat gun tool.

 3)  Using a blending brush, I gently rubbed
Gathered Twigs over the embossed/raised up images and card edges to create a bit of a vintage look.

4)  Taking some Distress Oxide Black Ink onto a glass mat (or piece of acrylic), I spritzed with water and mixed it with a paint brush (or you could use a Splatter Brush.)  Then, I splattered some of the ink onto the card.  You can also use black acrylic paint.

5)  I layered blue cardstock onto the card base then adhered the mixed media piece onto the blue cardstock.

6) I cut gold cardstock using Catherine Pooler Butterfly Buddies dies and again using black cardstock; cutting out the center 'body' of the butterflies and adhered the centers to the gold diecut butterflies.

7)  The sentiment from Spellbinders Hummingbird Sentiments is heat embossed with gold embossing powder onto dark brown cardstock.  I then popped up the sentiment strip with Scrapbook Adhesive 3D Foam Strips and adhered to the card.

Fluttering By

There's so much to love with this month's Pink & Main release...especially the beautiful BUTTERFLIES! Today I'm sharing two (actually 5) projects using several new products!

For my first card, I cut a pattern from the new Black & White Paper Pack with one of the Stitched Rectangles Set 1. I cut three circles, in the pattern paper using the Layered Circles Dies and placed a piece of light cardstock behind the openings. The butterfly images are from the new Butterfly Trio set and the sentiment from the Floral Wings set and cut with one of the Large Sentiment Strip Dies.

For my next set of cards, I cut black cardstock with one of the Stitched Rectangles Set 1 dies and then embossed with the new Heart Embossing Folder.

The butterflies were created by cutting white cardstock with the new Butterfly Trio Emboss 'n Cut -- in one step, these butterflies are embossed and cut out -- so cool! I used distress oxide inks and water to 'color' each of the different butterflies.

I stamped different sentiments from the Floral Wings set onto cardstock cut from the Notched Corners Dies.

Dream!

It's a new year! Time to make new goals, search new opportunities and DREAM of the possibilities!

For my card, I used Bold Butterfly Cover Die Panels A, B & C. I LOVE how these dies layer together to create a gorgeous butterfly and the color combinations are endless - I even cut one of the dies using silver glitter cardstock from the Metallic Glitter Paper Pack! For the word, I used Thin Alpha Dies.

Butterfly Burst

Pink & Main's newest release includes such beautiful products to spark your creativity and Dream Big!

For my card, I took the new Sun Ray Embossing Folder and blended distress oxide inks using the Ergonomic Blending Brush to create the background. These lovely butterfly images and sentiment are from the new Butterfly Sketches stamp set with coordinating dies. For a pretty little touch, I added pearls from the Unicorn Pearls set.

Bold Butterfly Friend

Summer has officially begun!  I've so enjoyed hearing all the birds singing, trees/flowers in full bloom and catching a glimpse at a beautiful butterfly or two!

For my card, I stamped this wonderful image (and sentiment) from the Dearest Friend stamp set and colored it with Karin Brushmarkers.  To finish, I edged the card with brown ink and added a few Crystal Gems.  Super easy card, but so much fun to pull together!

The May Pink & Main Release is here...and WOW, it's AMAZING!

For my card, I first layered onto the card base a pattern from the new BUTTERFLY KISSES paper pad. I then cut aqua and purple cardstock using the new PLAID 1 and PLAID 2 Cover Dies that can be used on their own, but look fabulous together! These beautiful butterflies are from the new BUTTERFLY SKETCHES stamps and COORDINATING DIES. I added several ESSENTIAL PEARLS. To finish, I added the sentiment from the BUTTERFLY KISSES set.

Divinity Designs September Release

September is here...and so is Divinity Designs new September Release!!  You'll love the new layering dies, slimline dies, slimline paper and stamp sets now available!

My first card reminds me of the soft transition from summer to fall; still warm enough to see butterflies, but getting cool in the evening and some trees are starting to change color!

The products used in the first card:

For my next card, I wanted to create a vintage feel by using rich, deep colors which I thought went well with the new floral stamps and butterfly die  The products I used...
