Pot of Blooms

It's been a long time since I made this watercolor flowers - I forgot how much fun they are to make and how much I like to use them in my designs.  They are made with a retired Stampin Up butterfly punch and watercolored with ink (see tutorial below if you're interested in making them yourself).

I chose Paper Sweeties Tea Pot die as my "vase" and MFT leaves die and Papertrey Ink Filigree Border die.

Thanks to these wonderful challenges for the inspiration!

I'd say my "style" for this card is more "Shabby Chic"

I chose the center, vertical row:  Flowers, Punch, Dimension

CONGRATULATIONS, Lesley and Team!!!

TUTORIAL:

1.  Punch out two butterflies from White Cardstock with butterfly punch and place on folded paper towel.

2.  Spritz water a few times onto butterfly.

3.  Dip AquaPainter into ink.  Gently touch on edges of butterfly allowing it to go into the water.  Ink will begin to spread and swirl.  You may need to spritz again to get it to spread.  You can outline the edges a little darker, if neccessary.

4.  Add another color ink to center.

5.  Allow to dry or speed up the process with a heat gun.

6.  (Optional) Using a fine-tipped marker, draw lines in center starting from the middle of the butterfly and shooting out toward the edge.

7. Roll top and bottom part of butterfly around a thin paint brush or pencil.  Then, flatten out a bit.

8. Layer butterflies - criss-cross - and put hole in the centers.

9.  Fasten with brad (I use mini gold brads, but any coordinating fastener will do).
